Jay B. Basillote, MD, is a board-certified urologist who practices with Sovereign Health Medical Group on Staten Island. In addition to his extensive office-based practice, Dr. Basillote has visiting attending privileges at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Director of Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery at Richmond University Medical Center.

With more than 12 years in practice, Dr. Basillote provides the full range of urologic- care services, and has a special interest and expertise in minimally invasive procedures.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Lehman College, Dr. Basillote earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. He then completed an internship in general surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University in Philadelphia before going on to a residency in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He also completed his residency in urology at Lenox Hill, with postgraduate study in pediatric urology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Basillote completed a fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive urology at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Basillote has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has lectured on a variety of urology-related topics at local, national, and international medical conferences. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Urological Association, and the Richmond County Medical Society, among other professional organizations.
